In response to emerging population issues that need policy direction, Kenya is in the process of revising the Population Policy for National Development, Sessional Paper No. 3 of 2012.

In this regard, the State Department for Planning – National Treasury and Planning through the National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) will be hosting a National Leaders Conference to garner wider stakeholder input on a draft National Population Policy following initial stakeholder consultations at both National and County levels.

The conference, themed ‘Investing in human capital for achievement of Kenya’s Vision 2030’  will be held virtually for three days between 26 – 28 May 2021.

Experts from AFIDEP will participate in several sessions at the National Leaders Conference with presentations and discussions based on the Institute’s work on population and the demographic dividend, health and environment.

The National Leaders Conference brings together experts and stakeholders in population to share information on population and development issues, build consensus on key action points and recommendations for draft policy and ultimately develop and adopt a national Population agenda (the communique).
