OVERCOMING CRISES – SHAPING POLICY FOR AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE

To many, our current world appears to be in never-ending crisis. Fears about the future have increased, especially among the younger generations. Crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and ecological disasters challenge us to move towards a framework of forward-looking crisis management.

On behalf of the organisers and international partners, we invite you to join us for panel discussions with distinguished experts from politics, business, science and civil society at the Berlin Demography Days 2024.

Panel discussions will look at best practice responses to shocks caused e.g. by violent conflicts, climate change, pandemics, and population developments such as societal ageing.

How can you participate?

All of the panels will be held exclusively online (with simultaneous translation in German and English), except for the first Evening Event, on 23 January 2024 at the Futurium museum in Berlin, which you can register to attend in person.

AFIDEP at Berlin Demography Days 2024

Dr Bernard O. Onyango, a senior research and policy analyst at AFIDEP will be a panelist for a discussion on ‘Visionary Institutions for Crisis Prevention’

The panel discussion will examine the adaptability of our institutions in crisis situations; how global discussion forums (such as the UN Climate Change Conference, the World Economic Forum, and the Munich Security Conference) can help prepare for the future; and the institutional gaps that need to be filled before the end of the decade to achieve global development goals.

Participation is free, but it is necessary to pre-register.
