Event Date: 20 Apr 2021
Event Location: Virtual

The live session is part of a two-part course exploring the impact of the demographic transition across Africa on the UK government. The course will bring experts from the field [population dynamics] to explore the drivers, impacts and opportunities of demographic change across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Specifically, participants will discuss impact of demographic change in the region including its drivers, the development opportunities and challenges of young and rapidly growing populations, and the practical approaches of applying a demographic lens to policy and programming across Her Majesty’s Government (HMG), including the history and sensitivity of discourse on demographics.

The two-part course is developed and will be delivered by the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
