Ethiopia: 28th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union

As African leaders converge for the 28^th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, development experts are following this closely. The official opening ceremony on 30^th January 2017 will feature, among other things, the launch of the AU 2017 theme, “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in the Youth.”

This Summit, which will also see the election of a new Chairperson of the AU, runs from 30^th to 31^st January 2017. The Summit also sets the pace for the main Summit taking place in July 2017.
