Tanzania: AFIDEP shares progress on education reform work at Dar meeting

A team from AFIDEP is currently participating at a forum for Partnership to Strengthen Innovation and Practice in Secondary Education (PSIPSE) grantees’ in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The convening is taking place at White Sands Hotel and runs between June 21 and 23, 2016.

Participants are PSIPSE grantees who come from countries across Eastern Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda), India, and Nigeria.

The AFIDEP team is led by the Executive Director, Dr Eliya Zulu who is accompanied by Dr Jackline Nyerere, Knowledge Translation Scientist. On June 23, 2016 the team will run a session aimed at updating participants about an ongoing exploratory review (scan) on transferable skills it has conducted for PSIPSE in East Africa. The team will discuss some early insights emerging from this work while soliciting feedback on the process. AFIDEP is participating in the convening at the invitation of the MasterCard Foundation.

PSIPSE is a multi-donor collaborative which aims to accelerate innovation in secondary education programming, research, and development in selected countries. It is led by a group of private donors and donor advisors including The MasterCard Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Intel Foundation, Echidna Giving, Dubai Cares, and an anonymous donor.
