Maame Peterson, Ph.D.
Research and Policy Analyst

Maame joins AFIDEP as a Research and Policy Analyst. Her work involves providing technical assistance and research knowledge in implementing projects to generate evidence and enhance decision-making.

Prior to AFIDEP, Maame was a Demography Research Fellow at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). She also served as an Adjunct researcher and a Visiting Scholar at the Pennsylvania State University.

Maame holds a PhD. and an MPhil. Degree in Population Studies from the University of Ghana where she also served as a Research and Teaching assistant at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS).  

Her research interests are multidisciplinary including gender power dynamics, urban poverty and health, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and demo-economics. She is a member of the Population Association of America and has presented at international conferences.
