Salim works under AFIDEP’s Population Change and Sustainable Development focus area in the Malawi office, where he provides technical support for the initiative. He holds a Master of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Social Sciences with a focus in Economics and Psychology.
Before joining AFIDEP, Salim worked concurrently as an Economics lecturer at the Blantyre International University (BIU) and at the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA). In the early years of his career, he worked with several policy and research institutions such as the International Food Policy and Research Institute (IFPRI) and the Agriculture and Natural Resource Management Consortium (ANARMAC). As an undergraduate student, Salim was drafted by the Psychology Department at Chancellor College, Malawi, as a Research Assistant.
Salim aspires to become a renowned Development Economist; working both as a researcher and policy advocate.
