Strengthening capacity for increased evidence use in decision-making: Sharing practical lessons and tools in Kenya

The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) will be holding a half-day meeting – on February 22, 2017 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting will deliberate lessons as well as share tools emerging from AFIDEP’s work on strengthening capacity for increased evidence use in decision-making The meeting will mark the end of the Strengthening Capacity to Use Research Evidence in Health Policy (SECURE Health) programme that has been implemented by a consortium since 2014. The consortium which is led by AFIDEP, comprises FHI 360, ECSA-Health Community, University of Malawi (College of Medicine), Consortium for National Health Research (Kenya) in collaboration with the United Kingdom Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology (UK POST). The SECURE Health programme has been implemented in Kenya in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Parliament, with funding from the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

A similar programme has been implemented in Malawi in collaboration with the University of Malawi (College of Medicine) and the Malawi Ministry of Health and Parliament.
