11th February marks an International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This day recognises the critical role women and girls play in science and technology communities. This year’s event theme is ‘Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us.‘ Through this theme, the role of women and girls in science will be recognized, not only as beneficiaries, but also as agents of change, including in view of accelerating progress towards the achievement of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)
This day will offer an opportunity to promote full and equal access and participation in science for women and girls. The day will celebrate women’s excellence in science and remind the international community that science and gender equality are both vital and have to advance hand-in-hand to address major global challenges and achieve all the goals and targets of the 2030 agenda.
