Scientists from across Africa convening to explore their role in governments’ uptake of evidence use in policy-making

The African Institute for Policy Development (AFIDEP) and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) are convening distinguished scholars from across Africa for a workshop that seeks to increase their capacity to drive evidence uptake in government decision-making, through knowledge sharing on the pathways to nurturing a culture of evidence-informed decision making (EIDM) in government. The three-day workshop will begin on 22 – 24 May 2019, at the EKA Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya

The workshop will bring together a total of 30 AAS Fellows from West and East Africa that have reached the highest level of excellence in their field of expertise and have made contributions to the advancement of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) in Africa. It will be facilitated by Prof. Nelson Sewankambo, Makerere University College of Health Sciences; Dr. JPR Ochieng’-Odero, National Research Fund; and Dr. Damson Kathyola, Director of Research, Malawi Ministry of Health.
