Sensitisation meeting to introduce a participatory qualitative study in Kenya
Event Date: 21 Feb 2024
Event Location: Sarova Stanley Hotel, Nairobi

The LIGHT Consortium partners in Kenya, the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and the Respiratory Society of Kenya (ReSoK) in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Lung Disease Program (NTLD-P) are having a sensitisation breakfast meeting at the Sarova Stanley, Nairobi.

Date:  February 21, 2024

Time: 7.30 am to 10.00 am

The Kenya LIGHT Consortium team will discuss the “Person-centred, rights-based, gender-responsive TB care – a participatory qualitative study in Kenya” with selected County Health Management Team (CHMT) and Sub-County Health Management Teams (SCHMT).

The study aims to support healthcare workers providing TB services in advancing person-centred, rights-based, gender-responsive TB prevention and care in Nairobi, Kenya. The consortium will conduct workshops with healthcare workers providing TB services in Ruaraka, Embakasi South, and Kibera/Langata sub-counties to understand their experiences, views, and needs towards providing differentiated TB care.

The study will facilitate a learning event for participants to present and discuss their findings and actionable recommendations with stakeholders. The study hopes to identify pathways and develop actionable recommendations for TB programmes to strengthen opportunities and capacities for healthcare workers to deliver person-centred, rights-based, gender-responsive TB prevention and care.

The Leaving no one behInd; transforming Gendered Pathways to Health for TB (LIGHT) consortium, a six-year cross-disciplinary global health research programme, funded by UK aid, aims to generate new evidence on gender and tuberculosis in urban contexts to support better development outcomes.
